Black Friday: Revived or Ruined?

Black Friday includes incredible sales both online and in stores

Over the years, traditional Black Friday sales have changed tremendously. While Black Friday includes in-store blowout sales, the event has recently transitioned into online sales. Many individuals claim this has ruined the shopping experience, however, others claim online shopping is for the better.

Whether you prefer an online, or in-store shopping experience, both still contribute to the Black Friday sales we know and love.

“I love shopping in stores just to experience the craziness of Black Friday, but in reality, online shopping has just become so much more convenient,” Junior Ava Pritt said.

While many individuals can accept both shopping experiences, others simply cannot. If you’re a stickler like junior Jenna Warren, in-store shopping might be your go-to on Friday morning.

“I prefer in-store shopping. Being able to tell what I’m buying and have it in hand has made it so much more encouraging to buy items. Actually, that’s probably a bad thing,” Warren said.

On the other hand, many people prefer staying in the comfort of their homes and shopping online. Over the past couple of years, many stores have expanded their sales, by including week-long online sales.

“I love shopping, so now that sales are a week-long, I’m able to shop even more, especially online,” Junior Bella Hammond said.

In addition to online shopping, Cyber Monday remains a huge part of the after-Thanksgiving shopping experience. Although Cyber Monday officially started in 2005, businesses took advantage of this date, to get more customers and sales.

Although online shopping has grown in popularity, the tradition of in-store shopping is hard to beat. While long lines and huge crowds can be irritating, Black Friday is an event many individuals continue to participate in.

“It’s a classic and honestly has become a staple in my Thanksgiving break. Sometimes I come out of shops empty-handed, but just the tradition of shopping is what matters,” Junior Kendall Kimes said.

Both online shopping and in-store shopping are the reason Black Friday is such a success. Every year these holiday sales become more popular, and convenient, contributing greatly to the overall shopping experience.
