This past year, St. Dominic has created something called Student Spotlight. The student spotlight is a monthly occurrence when students of any grade or position can vote on a person who has made an impact on their experience at St. Dominic. If this chosen person can be backed up by other students’ opinions then the student receives a special shout out on the crusader instagram page.
Student Spotlight has been an encouraging factor to continue to portray kindness, integrity and many other qualities in and outside of school grounds. This idea was generally created for family time only but has expanded to the House System and community life as a whole.
While so far only three students have received a spotlight, they have been estatic. Receiving the nomination has been a great honor for students at St. Dominic.
βIt was a good feeling to know that my effort doesn’t go unnoticed. I hope I can continue to make a difference in other students’ days.β Senior Chase Meyer said.
This new recognition has also encouraged students to engage in family time, while being excited to vote on peers that have impacted them to be more active in the St. Dominic community.
βI was the one to pick the first student spotlight St Dominic had and I wanted to make sure that she knew her positive personality was something that we all appreciate.β Senior Izzy Schenk said.
While it’s easy to just coast in high school, indulging in day to day activities and making an impact on other students is far greater. Now students can get rewarded and recognized for their impacts that have so greatly contributed to this year’s ongoing success regarding the house system
