The Success Of The Crusader Gala

The annual St. Dominic Gala was a very successful night

Over the weekend, St. Dominic hosted their 36th annual Evening of the Crusader Gala. This year, the prizes were larger than ever, including numerous vacations, a puppy, and various extensive baskets all up for grabs! Not to mention, the Crusader Gala supported and raised hundreds of dollars for St. Dominic to improve our school.

Profits and donations from the Gala contributed to St. Dominic’s fund-a-need, which is supporting Dominic’s plan to expand its parking lots. The stadium parking lot will nearly triple its size allowing all St. Dominic students to be able to park on campus.

“The gala is an important event because it gives St. Dominic the opportunity to raise funds for extra things about St. Dominic such as new parking and baseball fields,” Mrs. Ballard said.

Over 600 individuals attended the gala making it one of the St. Dominics largest events yet. However, for those not in attendance, individuals were still able to participate in the auction online. Various baskets and gift items were up for the taking, including athletic packages, concert tickets, and gift cards which were all bidded to incredible prices!

“The gala is a celebration of our community, to all be able to come together and celebrate and support all things St. Dominic,” Ballard said.

One of the most popular items during the live action was the puppy. This year, the little pup was a Pashon Poodle Mix, and was sold for around $7,000! Earlier during the school week, the puppy visited the students of St.Dominic quickly winning over many individuals’ hearts.

“Seeing the puppy during the school day was so fun, and I instantly went home and tried convincing my parents to bid on it,” Freshman Izzy Woytus said.

As we celebrated the community of St. Dominic over the weekend, it was more than a success. We got the chance to give back to the community in a fun and exciting way. It’s clear that the process to make this day come true took lots of hardworking weeks and months.

“Watching our big gym transform has been so cool over the week. I can see how the Gala is a beloved and exciting event for the Dominic community,” Junior Kate Hercules said.

St. Dominic has never failed to make the annual Gala a spectacular success. Each year, as the Gala grows larger, the Dominic community becomes more successful and grows closer together. Although the Gala is now over, its effects through the fund-a-need will soon take place and become everlasting!
