Pep Rally Recap

Students participate in the Bind Penalty Kicks competition last Friday

Homecoming weekend is always filled with fun, especially when started off by the annual pep rally. This year the rally included dodge ball, a blind soccer contest, and a spirit competition, all of which was dominated by the senior class.

“When we walked down to the field, I could already feel the excitement for Homecoming. The assembly just makes everything better,” Junior Sydney Hamiltion said.

The rally began with Dominic staff members competing in old-fashioned dodge ball. Each team represented a different grade level, and all were highly competitive. That is, until the senior class representatives swung in, and absolutely demolished the competition.

“Mr. Hammerschmidt and Mrs. Riechers killed it, they did amazing,” Senior Megan Osterholt said.

While the assembly includes numerous competitions, it also gives fall sports a chance to recognize their seniors. Homecoming is a great way to boost our athletic team’s morale, and provides a great opportunity to praise our senior leaders.

“It was really cool to get recognized in front of everyone, but I also enjoyed hearing different teams progress too,” Junior Marissa Clemens said.

Following the senior recognition more activities took place, which involved blind PK’s. All participants were blindfolded for this challenge and took turns either shooting, or defending the goal. Once again, the seniors reigned victorious as they were the only team able to score.

“The PK’s were so fun to watch, especially because the seniors played really well,” Senior Katelyn Morris said.

The last and final competition of the pep rally was the spirit competition. The Freshman began and did better than expected, and then the sophomores underperformed. Between the upperclassmen, the juniors were a bit more creative, but the seniors clutched the win, clearly displaying more spirit.

“My favorite part of the rally is working with our class to choose our chant. It’s kinda fun to hear everyone’s ideas put into action” Sophomore Piper Wiegmann said.

In the end, the seniors were once again awarded with the beloved spirit stick. Although Homecoming weekend is now over, this year’s pep rally will not be forgotten!
