the boys basketball team is having an amazing season with an 7-2 record so far.

Basketball is a long season, but the boys varsity team is making it very obvious that they are here to make an impact this season with a 8-2 record already! The Crusaders are prepared for the rest of their season, and plan to do big things.

“We are trying to get better every day, which means getting lots of shots up, competing, executing plays and preparing for playoff time every day,” senior Anthony Lewis said.

The team practices every single day, and before the season started they had workouts and open gyms which helped bring them an early lead this year. The boys were prepared, but there were definitely some setbacks. Due to COVID-19 there have been some cancelled games, but the team hasn’t let it affect their game.

“Covid has changed a lot for many teams this year, but we have been very lucky. We have been able to be together every day for the past few months when other teams haven’t been able to say the same,” sophomore Trevor North said.

Though the boys have spent every waking minute together for the past few months, their last days are coming up fast. Even though the end is in sight, the team isn’t taking their foot of the gas as they captured another huge victory last night beating U City 56-55. The memorable moments keep coming for this group of seniors.

“I have played for the team for four years, and I have met some people I never even thought I would be close to. I’ve learned so much from the program that goes along with life, and I can carry it on into the future,” Lewis said.

The team has made it a very worthwhile season for their seniors, especially over Christmas break. The team worked hard in the St. Dominic tournament and won it all in the end.

“My favorite part of the season so far was winning our Christmas tournament. The fact that we could win it in back to back seasons was awesome, especially with this team,” senior Luke Henke said.

With only a few home games left in the regular season, be sure to come out and support our boys team. They play this Friday at home against Duchesne at 7pm! If you cannot make the game, it will be live-streamed, and make sure to check @sdhsathletics on Twitter.
