With the holiday season upon us, many may be looking for new ways to safely celebrate this year while supporting the St. Dominic community. Junior Jacob Jones has been putting together an amazing light show at his house for the past three years. From the music to the programming, he creates the show all by himself!

Jones usually uses his passion for light programming in the St. Dominic theater productions, but for the past few years, he has been using his talent to bring the Christmas spirit to everyone.

“Throughout my childhood, my family and I always went to go see a Christmas light show every year. When we would leave, I would always tell my parents that I wanted to do that someday. Now here I am with a passion for lights, starting my third year in a row for Christmas,” Jones said.

Jones programs the lights to exciting Christmas songs. They flash and have patterns that sync to the music that anyone can listen to just by tuning the radio to 90.1FM. Jones does the programming all by himself, and does most of the set up with the help of some friends. Much work goes into this, which makes the show even more incredible.

“I do about 10 months of programming the lights, then when it’s time to set up it takes about two to three days—with a few extra days to tweak everything,” Jones said.

There is one aspect of his show that brings out the true meaning of Christmas. Along with the show, Jones puts a donation box for spectators to give money to the Sts. Joachim and Ann Care Service. In the past three years, Jones has raised over $2,000 for the organization!

“The best feeling is when you are outside and see kids dancing or singing to the music, or hear them saying, ‘wow’ or ‘that’s so cool!’” Jones said.

Jones holds the Christmas light shows every night after Thanksgiving until Epiphany, which is on January 10. So be sure to pop out at 28 Lost Valley Ct. in Saint Peters or just search “Hidden Lake Lights” on Google and show your support for our St. Dominic family and this great cause.
