Alyssa Baird will take over as the Editor in Chief

As the current 2022-23 school year is ending, rising seniors are ready to step up and take leadership. St. Dominic has been blessed with many wonderful students who are ready to fill in the shoes.

Junior Alyssa Baird, is one of the many students who’ve stepped up. Not only did Alyssa become the HOH of Gaudium, she also became a leader in the journalism department.

Alyssa has been a part of the journalism program for almost three years now, and it has become something so important in her life. It started out sophomore year when she took the class not thinking it would go this far. Now, going into senior year, Alyssa will be taking over the role of Editor in Chief.

“I took journalism because of my sister. She told me to take it because she enjoyed it. I never thought I would go anywhere with it until I took the class,” Baird said.

Her plate is definitely full, with being in theatre, journalism, NHS, ambassadors and music inc, it seems she has no time for her own hobbies. Alyssa also enjoys spending her free time playing the piano, bullet journaling and working her two jobs at Dicks Sporting Goods and Independence Elementry School.

“I play the piano, I’m not very good at it but I’m getting the hang of it. I also love printing photos and gluing them into journals to always look back at good memories,” Baird said.

Alyssa is someone who always has a smile on her face and brightens up any room she walks in, unless she gets an article sent to her that is not in the right font, then she is scary. Besides that, she is someone who is reliable and a perfect fit for HOH and Editor in Chief.

The journalism department is lucky to have Alyssa in it. Always make sure to read the list of do’s and dont’s before sending anything to her to get edited. We hope everyone has a great summer and we look forward to seeing Alyssa grow in her passion.
