Lily Hente will take over as the next Video Editor

Throughout the 2023-2024 school year, current junior Lily Hente will take over as the Video Editor of Crusader Nation News. Formerly run by senior Emma Larkin, Hente has big shoes to fill, but if anyone is going to do the job well, it will be Hente.

This year, Hente has mainly written articles, but throughout the spring semester she has been working hard at understanding all the little things that go into editing videos. From weekly broadcasts, to ACA videos, there’s been a lot that Hente has had to learn, but what about everyone else learning about Hente?

“A fun fact about me is that I have never broken a bone, and I have been outside the country four times, all different places. I enjoy playing volleyball, taking naps, and making TikToks with my dad. I like hanging out with my friends and family, as well as going to the lake and swimming. I also love vacations,” Hente said.

While all of those sound incredibly enjoyable (especially the vacations), none of that was what sparked her interest into joining the journalism program. A love for writing and a desire to pursue a career meant that Hente and journalism were going to be a match.

“I have always loved writing essays, and writing different things, so when I found out that there was a journalism class to take I immediately knew I wanted to take it. So, ever since then it has been a dream of mine to pursue journalism,” Hente said.

A leadership role for Hente is no new thing. She has been incredibly active for her house, Dignitas, throughout this past year, which she also described as being her favorite part about St. Dominic.

“My favorite thing about St. Dominic is definitely the House system. I love how it’s brought me to some of my closest friends, and I love taking those 20 minutes out of every day to spend time with people I never thought I would’ve before,” Hente said.

Lily Hente will undoubtedly be a name to remember next year, because of all the hard work that she will put into the journalism program. Whenever you watch the weekly newscast in family time, be sure to remember the one that put it all together and all the hard work that is behind it.
