The Hunger Games is in a major resurgence among Gen-Z.

Throughout the past few weeks, the movie/book franchise The Hunger Games, has had a major resurgence recently particularly among teenagers and people in their early 20’s. Many users on apps such as Tiktok or Twitter have been talking about The Hunger Games more and more which has sparked a whole resurgence of this franchise’s popularity.

This comes as the upcoming prequel, The Ballads of Songbirds and Snakes, is set to hit theaters this November. But, that hasn’t been the only reason for its revamped popularity. For the month of March, Netflix added all four movies on their platform, which gave millions of users the ability to watch these four fantastic movies once again.

For users on tiktok, for many weeks their feeds were filled with videos of people talking about their opinions of the Hunger Games and their old obsessions with it. Most of all, videos of user @luckyleftie have gone viral many times for her in-depth analysis of anything related to the Hunger Games. She has made numerous videos in which she answers questions with two to three minutes of full analysis, which has entertained and informed many viewers.

“I think it’s really cool because I’ve learned so much about one of my favorite series. Being able to see everyone’s theories and opinions has provided me new insight on things I had never thought about before. It’s also really fun to share my own opinions and have conversations with others who share my love for the series,” said junior Mackenzie Long.

With so many instances of viewing Hunger Games related material, it’s no surprise that it has caused a resurgence of interest. Arguments of being on Team Peeta or Team Gale have stirred up again, with many choosing Team Peeta as the only right option. While many fans of this franchise want to see more and learn more, it ironically goes against what author, Suzanne Collins, tried to teach all of us all along. The whole point of not making more books or movies was to show that we aren’t like the capital citizens in the movies. However, you can’t really blame fans for wanting more when it’s one of the most enthralling series of all time.
