St. Dominic is preparing for another exciting season in boys golf. The Crusader golf program has been very successful over the past few years, and there is a lot of excitement revolving around the 2023 season.

The boys season starts March 20th,  and with three seniors graduating last season, there is a small, but crucial hole to fill for the new seniors this year.

“This season will be different since the senior classes last, so I think we will make sure to really enjoy it and all create a special bond between teammates,” Senior Kelly Welby said.

Last year, Welby had a very impressive season; he, alongside Gavin Ramirez, were chosen to play in the Class 4 State Golf Championship. He also was a medalist in many tournaments the team participated in.

Head Coach Dan Matusiak, has led the girls and boys golf team to amazing successes. The plans and for this season finish with the boys playing in a state tournament.

“The goals for this season would be for the team as a whole to be our best. We believe the potential is there, we just need to have fun and play our best,” Welby said. The players and coaches for the boys golf team are excited to get swinging into the 2023 season. Be sure to watch the boys at the Tolton tournament on March 20th.
