Dignitas Runs Away With House Competition
Senior Aiden Mylenbusch throws dodgeball to eliminate the opposing team for a Dignitas win
The race for the house cup is underway after the first competition of the year is complete. The house wide dodgeball tournament was a huge success. It is easy to say that the first competition has already created rival teams, but it has also brought in a lot of fun.

This tournament was not like a regular dodgeball game because in the last minute of each game, it went into gladiator mode. Gladiator is a dodgeball rule where there are no more boundaries and the two teams can go wherever they want.
To establish a bracket, each house played the families within their own house in a single elimination game, ultimately leaving every house with one team to play in the bracket. The winning family from each house went head to head with each other in a double elimination tournament.
Caritas and Gratia were the first teams to be eliminated, giving Caritas fifth place and six points and Gratia in sixth place and four points. Gaudium was the next team to be eliminated, finishing in fourth place with nine points. Virtus also earned nine points and third place after being eliminated by the final two teams, Dignitas and Temperentia.
“I am very proud of my family and how much participation we had in the competition. I’m sad we lost in the semi-finals, but it was still really fun and exciting,” Virtus senior Gabby Povich said.
Dignitas went up against Temperentia in the championship game on Wednesday. Dignitas was undefeated throughout the tournament so Temperentia knew they had to play their best but in the end, Dignitas came out victorious winning 20 points for first place and Temperentia with 15. After winning the first tournament of the year, everyone is now seeing them as one of the top competitors for this year.
“I’m really proud of my family for how they played. We are all really excited to try and win the house cup this year,” Noah Hood, Family Captain of the winning Dignitas team said.
This was only the first of many competitions this year, and the house system is off to a good start. The big question is, which house is going to take home the cup?
