Last Thursday and Friday, Pro-Life club put on their annual bake-sale. An assortment of goodies lined two tables in St. Dominic’s atrium for students and staff to buy. The fundraiser boasted a variety of scrumptious baked goods, including: chocolate chip muffins, cinnamon cookies, chocolate chip cookies, snickerdoodle dough bites, chocolate oatmeal chip cookies, gooey butter cookies, lemon cookies, brownies, and more!
This year’s bake-sale, which raised $410.60, benefited Our Lady’s Inn maternity homes, a program which has two nearby locations in St. Louis and St. Charles, Missouri. Our Lady’s Inn provides housing and other resources to pregnant moms and their dependent children. Educational workshops are a part of the resources offered to the inn’s residents. Case managers work with the residents to help them attain their goals and get back on their feet. Nurses and counselors are also present to help the women with their physical and mental health.
“In helping these mothers transition from crisis toward independence and stability, Our Lady’s Inn opens the door to hope for a new life,” the Our Lady’s Inn website says.
After a woman and her child leave the residential program, Our Lady’s Inn continues to give them support for up to two years through a variety of means, such as by providing transportation, help finding a home, or by providing supplies. This is referred to as the Aftercare Program, and there are three locations for the Aftercare Program between St. Louis and St. Charles County.
Our Lady’s Inn has strategically initiated programs to benefit their residents and to promote their organization. In St. Louis, Our Lady’s Inn has a resale shop called Twice Blessed Resale Shop. This store gives the residents job experience in the retail business, and Our Lady’s Inn receives its profits. Additionally, residents can learn how to make jewelry, a craft which has two-fold benefits. Doing this craft can be calming and good for the women’s mental health, and the jewelry they create is sold at different events to benefit Our Lady’s Inn.
Our Lady’s Inn has had an enormous impact, and in 2025, they helped 94 families. They share the testimonies of some of their clients while protecting the privacy of their clients by using a pseudonym. One of their clients, “Melissa”, was pregnant with her third child when she found herself in serious financial straits. Melissa and her children stayed at Our Lady’s Inn for eight months. During this time, she worked a full-time and a part-time job, learned how to manage her money, paid off her debts, and bought a car. After moving from Our Lady’s Inn, she and her family entered an apartment of their own, and Melissa is now in the Aftercare program.
“Our Lady’s Inn was the support I really needed in my life. I’m now on the right path to success and not in a position of ending up homeless again” Melissa said.
Whether you made it to the bake-sale or not, please consider supporting Our Lady’s Inn and their beautiful mission however you can, such as through financial means, volunteering, or through prayer!
