On March 6th, the St. Dominic girls varsity basketball team reached a huge milestone in their season. They competed in the Class 5, District 4 championship game against Fort Zumwalt South at FZS. The St. Dominic girls team had won the game 47-33, securing the district title. With the team’s incredible skills and work ethic, they successfully advanced to the state tournaments opening rounds. This major achievement means a lot to this team. This was a huge milestone for the Crusaders and they will continue their hard work as they make their way to the state championship.
This win was more than just a win; it was a moment to highlight the team’s skills and work ethic shown through the postseason. By winning this game, the girls have earned their well earned position in the opening rounds of the state tournament. As they move forward, the team plans to maintain their effort with one goal towards the end of this season: to win the state championship.
For the players, the overall championship win was impactful for all the players and coaches because they were able to win together, as one team. This served as a powerful moment to show much how these players have put into this season. Their incredible skill and work ethic has got them this far, and hopefully will carry them into state.
“It was overall a great experience. And so rewarding,” junior Ellie Franklin said.
The win held a deep meaning for the seniors who have been on the team throughout high school, and also remained dedicated throughout their entire high school careers. This was a moment where their hard work had paid off, and a moment they have been waiting for.
“After the game, I celebrated with my family and teammates. It was a great way to end my senior season because it’ll be one I’ll remember forever,” senior Delaney Wulkopf said.
After months of training and skill developing, all the hard work put in had finally paid off. This season has been overall a fantastic season for the team. This season proved that this team has a lot of talent. The bond between the seniors and underclassmen is what gets this team together and moving forward. Ultimately, these shared efforts have allowed this team to reach a high point as they continue their journey toward the state championship.
