Starting this week, St. Dominic is thrilled to welcome Fr. Brad Modde into the community. He will serve as a priest at both St. Dominic and Assumption. He is as thrilled as we are to finally have him here.
Fr. Modde was ordained in May of 1997, first serving at St. Joan of Arc parish for a decade. He also spent his time serving at other parishes like Our Lady of Sorrows and Immaculate Heart of Mary. He has always loved to serve his Parish and has enjoyed his time serving high school students.
“I’ve enjoyed my parish assignments. I never envisioned doing high school ministry when I was asked in 2000 to go to St. Mary’s High School, but I really enjoyed my time there teaching and running retreats,” Fr. Modde said.
Fr. Modde loves to be active within his school in other ways, too. At St. Mary’s, he coached freshman soccer, freshman baseball, and varsity golf. In high school, Fr. Modde grew in his love for sports and faith, and the priests who taught him greatly influenced him and led him on a path to the priesthood.
“I was tremendously influenced by the five priests who taught me during high school, and I hope I was able to share that wisdom during my time at St. Mary’s. My goal is to do the same thing at St. Dominic,” Fr. Modde said.
Fr. Modde always knew he wanted to be a priest for the Archdiocese and not for a religious order because of his love for serving in a parish and school environment. There was no one great push for him, but he always felt such a calling.
“Being a pastor was one of the reasons I became a priest for the Archdiocese, even if it wasn’t always easy. I was at many parishes that have closed, which was difficult for the parishioners even if necessary for the Archdiocese,” Fr. Modde said.
Most of all, Fr. Modde is excited to continue to serve in a high school environment. It has been his passion and being at St. Dominic is no different.
“I never knew I would be at St. Dominic, but it has already been a great experience and I am excited to see what is in store for my time here,” Fr. Modde said.
Please continue to make Fr. Modde feel welcome as he leads throughout the rest of the school year. His passion for our high school community will be sure to deepen everyone’s faith. St. Dominic offers its warmest welcome!
