This past Friday, the varsity dance team had their senior night. The large spirit program with 26 dancers prepared a new dance to perform at the boys’ varsity basketball game.
While the team still has a week of practicing and state to perform at, it was an emotional night to say the least. The team’s close bond is incomparable to other teams, considering they have spent four long years of high school together. This specific night was a night to celebrate all of the seniors’ hard work and dedication they have put into this season, as well as previous seasons.
Each senior received a homemade poster board with pictures and memories from their dance team sister, as well as a gift from each coach. The team ate dinner together, took pictures, and then individually walked the floor with their parents before finally taking the stage for the last basketball game of their high school dance career.
“It was both emotional and heartwarming to dance with my sister one last time at school. I will miss her so much next year, and the team will be different without all of the seniors,” freshman Kendall Lynch tells us.
It was heartwarming to see the underclassmen run up to hug the seniors after their performance, expressing their gratitude and displaying their close relationship as a team. After the performance, the team went back to the atrium to hang out and take final pictures before closing out their basketball season for the last time.
“The night couldn’t have gone more perfectly. I felt so appreciated, and while I’m sad for the dance to be over, I know our relationship will always stay the same no matter the distance between us,” senior Audrey Coutts tells us.
The atmosphere of the night was ecstatic and emotional, but the girls will always look back on the night as a reminder of their close bond and how lucky they are to have found relationships like theirs.
