With winter sports winding down, it is time for the true stars to shine, the drama department. This year’s winter play is the Misadventures of Sherlock Holmes. Which is a compilation of thirty stories about the famous detective Sherlock Holmes. The play has a fun upbeat tone about several mysteries that is guaranteed to have the audience laughing for the whole duration of the show.
The play begins when Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are drawn into a new intricate case. The clash of Sherlock Holmes’ dramatic tendencies, and Dr. Watson’s loyal and confused way of life makes for the play to be full of humorous circumstances.
Aspects that make the play so enjoyable are the wild conclusions Holmes gains from the tiniest clues. Another enjoyable part are the disguises the characters wear and the dramatic confrontations the characters face. The drama is the main driving factor for the whole storyline of the story and makes for comic resolution to be both satisfying and enjoyable.
With this particular play having so many different storylines and plot points it allows for many students to be able to participate and have an active role in the show. The many storylines also allow for the prop department to shine, as they have been hard at work to make all the sets and props perfect for the audience to feel as if they are in a real mystery.
With many veteran actors like TJ Blattel and Ella Schmitz graduating in the class of 2025, it will be a great opportunity for younger performers to step into their shoes and get experience on the big stage. Though it may be nerve wracking for young performers to step on the stage in front of the audience, the amazing drama department is always willing to encourage students and get them out of their comfort zone in the best way possible.
As the play quickly approaches the cast and crew are hard at work trying to make sure everything is perfect. Final rehearsals will be intense making sure that everyone knows what is going on in every scene but will also be rewarding as the play is sure to come together perfectly.
Make sure to check out the play on this Valentine’s Day weekend Saturday the 14th and Sunday the 15th. Good luck to all the cast and crew as all your hard work will pay off on the brightest stage.
