St. Dominic has hosted their annual Senior Night for the Girls Varsity Basketball team on February 10th. The ceremony was held at 6:00 PM in the Gymnasium, highlighting the achievements of the graduating seniors, presenting pictures and slideshows of each player. This event recognized the seniors for their commitment to the teams and to celebrate their collaborative success.
The seniors the night was dedicated to were players Kate McDonald, Ashley Monitor, Delaney Wulkopf, and the team managers Chloe Price and Piper Wiegmann. All of the girls have been with the team since their freshman year. They have grown together and succeeded together as a team but each of them also grew as individuals.
“This year has been my favorite season of basketball, the team is so connected and close! Senior night was so bittersweet because it means this chapter of my life is coming to an end, but it was also a super fun night, and I liked celebrating my 4 years on the team,” senior Delaney Wulkopf said.
Delaney is one of the girls who were celebrated last night. All of the ladies were extremely excited and grateful for this celebration. Many families and friends gathered for the evening to celebrate the players and for an interesting game against Villa Dushcense.
“It was a great feeling to be there to support my friends that I’ve grown so close to because of basketball. I’m excited for them and what they will do in the future,” junior Ellie Franklin said.
For the players, basketball was more than just a sport; it’s about friendship, support, and teamwork. This senior night was not just about recognizing their athletic achievements, but also about honoring the bonds and relationships formed between the team. For them, this shows that being there to support one another is an important part of being a part of this team with these graduating seniors.
Overall, St. Dominic’s senior night was a meaningful celebration for both the players’ growth and as a team. It honored their dedication, hard work, and achievements of the seniors while also highlighting their friendships and support that basketball has brought them. The night served as a reminder that being a team goes beyond the wins and losses, but by creating memories and meaningful relationships.
