As the new year begins, a lot of people think of ways they can change or improve their lives in some way or another. New Year’s resolutions bring motivation and goals for the year ahead and they’re a chance for people to reset and focus on the things they want to make a priority going into the new year. Some ideas include doing and focusing better in school, being more active, and growing both mentally and physically.
New Year’s resolutions have been around for a very long time. For many people, a new year feels like a fresh start, a reset button, for motivation to focus on the future and how to become the best version of themselves. These goals don’t have to be hard, they can be simple changes to make them more maintainable and practical. Resolutions usually fail pretty quickly because they’re either unrealistic and unattainable. More realistic ideas are goals like being more productive or doing better in school because they are very achievable.
“My New Year’s resolution for this year is to be more productive and try my best,” senior Maddie Pittman said.
One of the most common resolutions people make is to be more productive in the new year. To be better about managing their time better, stop procrastinating, and to accomplish more throughout their everyday lives.
“This next year I really want to grow in my faith and make God a priority in my life,” junior Reiter Kandlebinder said.
Another common resolution for the new year is that many people say they want to grow in their faith. With the start of a new year, it’s a great time to start making God the center of your life and build your other goals around him. While school starts up again, getting busy with friends, it can be hard to be consistent with your goals or resolutions but this allows individuals that are wanting to grow in their faith a chance to start and refocus on what they find important.
In conclusion, the New Year allows for new beginnings and a great time to make changes. New Year’s resolutions encourage people to self-reflect and set goals for themselves. Each resolution can be a meaningful way to start the year with motivation and a positive mindset.
