With the new school year comes many changes, one of the biggest changes to the House System was adding Junior Family Captains. This addition raises the question of what will be the role of Junior Family captains?
One of the biggest roles in family time is stepping up for your senior Family Captain. With all the stresses and obligations of senior year, Family Captains are bound to have some absences from family time. When these absences occur it can cause an obvious hole in the family time’s usual flow. Having a leader who knows to step up is an easy way to keep family time running seamless.
“It is important for the seniors to be able to enjoy retreats and college visits without stressing over what is happening back at school,” Virtus Head of House Landon Wright said.
The end of the school year seems a long way away, but it will sneak up in no time. Having the opportunity for juniors to have a leadership role and learn how to lead a group while still having someone there to guide them is an amazing plus of Junior Family Captains.
Being a Junior Family Captain will also help the juniors to see how much work goes into the House System and what it will take to be an HOH if they are thinking about applying for the position.
It also gives the juniors a lot more pride in their house. If someone has worked hard at an event they are far more likely to get more people involved.
“I love how it helps juniors to get integrated into the House System and it makes the house a lot more exciting,” senior Landon Wright said.
Having another pair of eyes in house events is another benefit to the new position. Sometimes people can get looked over but if there are more people looking out for those situations it is a lot less likely to happen. Having more people makes the house system more diverse allowing for every type of student to get involved.
Having Junior Family Captains has been in the making for multiple years now. Now that they are finally implemented it will be exciting to see how they can step up and make Saint Dominic even better.
