The St. Dominic boys soccer team went 16-7-1 this season and a big part of that success was junior Brendan McCrory. In his first year playing for St. Dominic High School he made the varsity team. Before this he played for St. Louis City MLS Next affiliate team.
“My favorite part of the season has been the bus rides traveling to the games,” Brendan said.
Brendan has been playing soccer his whole life. His dedication to the sport is what has made him such a good player. Soccer has been a big part of his life and it has been his favorite sport for as long as he can remember. He can play anywhere on the field and wants to continue improving.
“Everyone in my family has played soccer, but my parents and uncle got me into soccer, so I’ve been playing since I was three,” Brendan said.
This season Brendan and his teammates have worked very hard in practices and games to hopefully reach the goal of winning the state championship. The first step to this goal was to be the second seed in their district. Their biggest win of the regular season was against Ladue who was ranked first in the state at the time. Other big wins were against Chaminade and St. Dominic’s rival Borgia.
In their first game of districts they faced Battle High School. Brendan scored a goal to help beat them 7-0. Then their next game he helped them win 2-0 against Liberty. He hopes they can keep it rolling with another win against their next opponent Fort Zumalt West for the district championship.
He also hopes he will be able to play again next year for his senior season. His love of soccer has grown throughout the years and he can’t wait to continue to make more memories with his teammates.
