The 2025-2026 NHL Season officially began on October 7th. Games have started in both the Western and Eastern Conferences, leaving fans all around the world full of excitement.
St. Louis is home of the Blues. Last season, the Blues finished in 16th with a record of 44-30-8. The team also made it to the playoffs for the first time since 2021. Overall, fans are pleased with the season and the new head coach, Jim Montgomery. Supporters are hopeful for a successful season to come, and a chance at the Stanley Cup.
“I think we have a lot of potential with some of our players being healthy again. We are on an upward trend,” junior Abby Maroney said.
The Blues came out strong winning three games out of their first five against Calgary, Vancouver, and Dallas. However, the team is currently in a challenging period, losing seven consecutive games. This rough patch has put the Blues last in the Central Division, and 15th in the Western Conference.
“I think we started off strong, but are going through a rough patch right now. However, we are only at the beginning of the season,” junior Kirby Scarborough said.
In addition to this difficult time, the team has suffered two injuries. During the pre-season, Zach Dean was injured and his current status is non-rostered and injury reserved. On October 28th Jake Neighbours suffered an injury, leaving him on injury reserve as well.
The Blues have started their journey to redemption by winning their latest game against the Oilers 3-2. The Blues are keeping their heads held high, and continuing to fight for the top spot.
The team has much more time for improvement, with the playoffs not starting until April 2026. There are high hopes that the Blues will continue to progress and make a statement for those back in St. Louis.
