This past Friday, St. Dominic Football celebrated its last home football game for this season with a final score of 45-21. This season has been amazing with the Crusaders finishing 9-0 on the season. There are a total of 15 senior football players this season, ranging from our quarterback to our offensive line.
“I gave up a lot of time to get where I am today. I had a bunch of guys that pushed me to be stronger and just overall better. I really enjoyed playing and I’m excited for districts,” senior Benji Boss said.
Boss has been one of the starting offensive lineman for the Crusaders this season. Boss, with seniors Landon Kemp and Vincent Palmisano, kept our offensive line strong all season. They have been keeping senior quarterback Brennan Czeschin safe all season long, letting him be one of St. Dominic’s best quarterbacks. They all have each other’s backs all season during all practices and games to create a good locker room and good atmosphere for the fans to watch.
During the game, junior Austin Ryan had 3 touchdowns from quarterback Czeschin, one from 56 yards out. Later, junior running back Dom Palo had 2 rushing touchdowns with one of them coming from our famous giant formation. Senior running back, Hayden Bolinger, had a 47 yard touchdown also from the giant formation. Finally, Junior kicker Justin Kraner also had a field goal to seal up the victory in blowout fashion.
“Watching practices is a very cool experience. You get to see the game in a deeper way. At practice, you get to watch the plays being run over and over again, so when they run them in the game, you have a better understanding of what’s actually going on. Also, during the games, listening to the coaches talk to the sideline is very cool,” senior Jack Thompson said.
Thompson has been to every home football game this season being one of the varsity managers for this season and last. Thompson, along with many other St. Dominic seniors have enjoyed our football team always being so dominant throughout the time they’ve gone to St. Dominic.
The Crusaders are an amazing team that show strength and determination every time they step onto the field, they have amazing chemistry and morale that caused them to go 9-0 the whole season. The fans and students show up and show out every game to show amazing support for our team, creating a hard place for the visiting team to play in. The Crusaders play their first district game on November 7th at home
