The St. Louis Blues new season kicks off Thursday, October 9th. The team is under Coach Montgomery this year for a full season, wanting to repeat the late season success the Blues had with him last year. The Blues had an unfortunate ending last season, losing in Game 7 overtime to the Jets in the first round of the playoffs, but the Blues look to bounce back and make it further this season.
“I think if they work really hard like they did last year they can definitely make a push for the playoffs,” junior Carter Lickteig said.
The Blues have lost players Zach Bolduc, Nick Leddy and Radek Faksa this offseason. But they have gained players Pius Suter and Nick Bjugstad to help out their offensive lines and added the young Logan Mallioux to help out the defensive core. The Blues kept a majority of their players, extending Cam Fowler and keeping rookie Jimmy Snuggerud in the lineup. The Blues have also signed long time veteran Milan Lucic, but him and rookie Dalibor Dvorský did not make the starting lineup for this season.
“I don’t think the Blues honestly got better this offseason, getting rid of Bolduc and getting an unproven Mailloux is risky for our future” junior Ben Talbott said.
For this offseason draft, the Blues drafted Justin Carbonneau in the first round this year. He has been a standout player within the QMJHL. He has signed with the Blues but he won’t be playing for us or our AHL affiliate, Springfield, for this year. We drafted other great players in the offseason but none have shown the potential that Carbonneau has through his past play and during the pre-season.
This 2025-2026 Blues season, they wish to bounce back to make a full season run with Coach Montgomery and make it back into the playoffs. A breakout season by Kyrou or Binnington will really help this Blues team become stable. Having Mailloux or Snuggerud prove themselves in their first full season will show how good they will be this season. All of the fans of the St. Louis Blues will be rooting for another amazing season from them.
