This year marks the twentieth anniversary of the annual Maggie Welby Trivia Night. This fantastic night is a great opportunity to break out your random knowledge to support a good cause.
The mission of this trivia night is to raise money for children in need, so they can live their life to the fullest just like Maggie Welby did. To further understand this mission it is important to learn Maggie Welby’s story. Maggie was a cheerful, spirited girl whose life was cut short, at seven years old in 2005, due to Brainstem Subependymoma. Brainstem Subependymoma is a condition that spreads tumors in the brainstem and surrounding areas.
This year’s trivia night raised funds for the cause and was a great success, with hundreds of people attending in the gym and answering trivia questions about sports, the city of St. Louis, and much more.
“The trivia night is a great time, with hundreds of people packed into the gym to support the cause and have a good time. People also bring snacks, like buffalo chicken dip, chips, and more, ”economics teacher Mr. Hammerschmidt said.
Since this foundation started twenty years ago it has helped numerous individuals reach a happier and healthier life, for not only themselves but their children as well. Many individuals often send in letters and drawings to the Maggie Welby Foundation to show their gratitude towards the kindness of the foundation and to show support towards the mission of this beautiful organization.
The Maggie Welby Foundation hosts this annual trivia night as well as a golf tournament to raise money. However, there is also an option to donate to the foundation without attending the events.
None of this would be possible without the four board members of the Maggie Welby Foundation including her parents and close family friends. The donors, and the inspiring memory of the cheerful Maggie Welby also further the possibilities of the Maggie Welby Foundation.
