With winter sports slowly wrapping up, the girls swim team came together on Saturday to celebrate their senior night.
To start off the night, the girls crushed Notre Dame 127 to 53. These girls showed out with determination to win on their senior night. The seniors who were celebrated were Peyton Webb, Sophia Weir, Delaney Quinn, Caroline Nace, Claire Li, Holly Kwapiszeski, Sarah Koenemann, Kendall Kimes, and Emma Gagnepain.
“The highlight of senior night was getting to push all the coaches into the pool,” Delaney Quinn said.
Caroline had a great senior season, and had a blast while doing it. Nance spent many long partices, putting the hard work and effort in. Nance plans on attending Southeast Missouri State to study early childhood education. She also plans to continue her swimming career by swimming on SEMO’s club team. We wish great things for Caroline’s future.
“I have grown since freshman year in the fact that I have become a leader. As a senior I am a team captain and I love to hype the team up. I always love to say the prayer before any meets, turn on fun music, and cheer the girls on behind the block,” Nance said.
During the senior night, Claire Li showed out with a new state consideration time in the 400 free relay. Li has worked very hard on her swim career, and is looking forward to studying computer engineering in her near future.
“I loved getting closer with my teammates, and working as hard as I could to push myself to get better each meet,” Li said.
The girls swim team is full of amazing seniors who have worked so hard through their high school years. Peyton Webb and Sarah Koenemann have shown great determination towards the team and a tremendous amount of love towards all the swimmers on the team. Peyton plans on studying biomedical engineering while Sarah plans on studying landscape architecture in college.
“The community that the swim team holds is so strong and it was so great to swim with all these great girls and I also loved seeing the team grow,” Webb said.
Other seniors celebrated that night were Sophia Weir, Holly Kwapiszski, Kendal Kimes and Emma Gagnepain. Weir plans to go into biochemistry and Kwapiszeski will attend Francisan University to study criminal justice and psychology. Kimes is going to attend Mizzou in the fall to study journalism whereas Gagnepain is attending University of Kansas to study architecture. All these amazing seniors have grown as a team and as people through the swim team.
We want to wish these ladies good luck to rest of their swim season, and to keep pushing towards state!
