Adding Charity Through Competitive Fun

St. Dominic adds new charity organization for new competitive fun

St. Dominic High School’s mission statement includes four pillars that we use for success. The pillar of service is emphasized through all we do. The students are required to complete service hours to give back to the community. At St. Dominic, we have many organizations that we serve, and are always looking to add more.

We are blessed to be adding a new charity, the First Annual Alumni Euchre Tournament. This benefits Alumni Legacy Scholarships, so more students can be financially supported. This tournament has been set up by 2016 graduate Daniel Steiniger, who is giving back to the community by sharing something he loves.

“Euchre has been a huge pastime for our family, and has always been popular in the St. Paul area. I learned to play when I was pretty young, and it’s a simple game to have a good time with your family and friends,” Steiniger said.

Euchre is a card game played with four players, in teams of two. Five cards are dealt to each partnership, and the object is to win at least three of the five games. After placing cards down from the deck, the highest value wins.

St. Dominic is beyond lucky to have such a supportive alumni family, who continues to care for current, and future generations of the Crusader community. With Alumni like Daniel, we are able to grow in service, and have fun while giving back.

“My hope for the tournament is that it provides additional funds for the Alumni Scholarship and everyone enjoys themselves. A lot of people seem interested in it, so hopefully it continues on in the future,” Steiniger said.

We are blessed to have many opportunities to raise money for others and continue hosting events. The Dominic community would love to see you at this event, to kick off the Euchre Tournament. The significance of this is to grow our community with scholarship opportunities, through our four pillars. Using service to help others strengthens relationships, and is what St. Dominic highschool is all about.

Come up to Dominic on January 6th for some competitive fun, and the chance to give back to students. You can sign up on the St. Dominic website https://www.stdominichs.org/giving/special-events/euchre and fill out your team information there. See you there!
