SDHS Girls Basketball prepares for their long awaited 2023-24 season

Girls Basketball is back in play, and with their home opener quickly approaching, they’re adding their final touches before their first game against Brookfield East. Last year the team went 15-13 which isn’t bad but they’re hoping to do better.

“As a team, I would really like to win multiple tournaments and put ourselves in a position to make a run in the post season,” Juinor Madison Lynch said.

Last year was Madison Lynch first appearance on varsity, and she made quite the first impression. Lynch lead her team in points, and in rebounds. Her performance on the team was outstanding, and I’m excited to see how she will lead this team this season.

“Last year was a great learning experience for me. I was happy with my performance but not satisfied. This season I will be more prepared in the mental aspect of the game. I am super excited for this season!” Lynch said

This team was a senior lead team last year, but after losing all those seniors, some big changes were made. This team is now more on the younger side, which means that there is more room for them to improve, and grow as a team.

“We will miss the seniors from last year but we have some girls that are ready to step up and I am really looking forward to playing with all the players from last year and welcoming all the new players this year,” Lynch said.

Last year was Mr.Wilmes first season coaching the girls basketball team, and he showed us that they are not to be taken lightly. They had a better season than they did in the 2021 season, and I don’t see them slowing down anytime soon.

This year Domimic will be playing against most of the same teams, but this is also a whole new team. Members that were on the team last year are going to have to step up and lead this team.

“I am looking forward to playing with my teammates and competing against some talented teams,” Lynch said.

After last year’s performance I’m excited to see what this team can do this season. Make sure to attend their first game on November 18 at St. Dominic.
