Lake St. Louis Farmer’s Market: The Place to Be!

Produce is quite the popular item at the farmers market

While fall is a busy time of year, many St. Dominic students find time to attend events outside of the community. Lately, the Lake St. Louis Farmer’s market has sparked students’ interest, quickly becoming the place to be!

The market takes place on Saturday mornings, at the Meadows shopping center. Whether it be rain or shine, this event invites all individuals to come out and support small businesses.

“I discovered the farmers market a couple years ago when it was still small. Now it’s gaining popularity, and I look forward to seeing how much more it can grow,” Junior Ava Gandolfo said.

Every week, the market hosts over 115 local vendors selling numerous products, but it’s specialty is fresh produce. There’s certainly no shortage of fruits, plants, or vegetables at the market!

“I love buying flowers and creating my own bouquet. I can never pass up the stand,” Junior Bella Hammond said.

While produce and plants are largely found at the market, they aren’t the only items being sold. Baked goods, jewelry, and handmade stands are found scattered throughout the market, and have recently become more popular amongst teens.

“I recently bought macaroons from a stand, and they were so fresh. The owner comes out with new flavors each week which keeps me coming back, ” Junior Erica Juergensmeyer said.

Although the market mainly consists of locally owned stands, food trucks also make appearances. Depending on the day, food trucks set up camp selling a variety of food such as wonky waffles, snow ones, and even lemonade.

“The Food trucks lighten the mood and add more fun to the atmosphere. Plus, they are usually delicious,” Junior Mena Jones said.

Since fall is upon us, the market will soon come to a close at the end of October. If you haven’t already, make sure to check out the Lake St. Louis Farmer’s Market!
