The House standings after the Shazam competition

With the start of the new semester also means new House competitions. The first competition to take place in 2022 was the musical game show, Shazam. Although each House had their eyes on the prize, it was Virtus who emerged victorious.

Before facing the other House competitors, each family played Shazam among themselves to determine a winner. These family winners then went on to represent their House in the next round.

The Houses then competed in a preliminary Shazam match to settle the final bracket. Gratia and Virtus both earned their Houses a bye, while the other teams kicked off the competition.

The Shazam competition began with Gaudium versus Temperentia and Dignitas against Caritas. Both Gaudium and Dig were eliminated in the first round. Over the next few days, Caritas and Gratia were eliminated as well, leaving their Houses in third and fourth place. Only two Houses were left to compete.

With the whole school watching via livestream, House Temperenia and House Virtus went head to head in the final round of Shazam. It was a tough back and forth game but the first place title was ultimately awarded to Virtus. The House would not have won without the teamwork of sophomore Emma Luke, juniors Emery Mueller and Angelina Rattini and seniors Grant Merritt and Ryan Schwendeman.

“It was incredible to see the teamwork my fellow Virtus family members put into the Shazam contest. They worked hard, had fun and brought home the win for House Virtus! As I said before, we didn’t start off strong, but we are making our way to the top,” Head of House Alli Herbert said.

Their win brought Virtus into fourth place, just a few points behind Temp. Dignitas stands in second with 95 points, and in first place is House Gaudium with 96 points. Stay tuned because the next House competition is Penny Wars, and only time will tell which of the Houses will stand and who will fall.
