What To Do for Labor Day

Labor Day is almost here, marking the end of summer. However, there is still time to soak up the sun, swim, camp and adventure outdoors!

The Lake of the Ozarks is always popular, especially on holiday weekends, so if that is your scene definitely go before it gets too cold! Boating around, swimming, jet skiing over massive waves and going out to eat are just a couple of things you could fill your Labor Day with.

“I’m going down to the Lake of the Ozarks with my family. We’ll probably spend most of our time either out tubing or eating my dad’s barbecue,” sophomore Danny Hahn said.

Mark Twain Lake is similar to the Lake of the Ozarks, and many find it a better option on packed holiday weekends, as there will not be quite so many boats and waves. Not to mention you will most likely have more lake to yourself. There are fewer restaurants, but you can always have your own barbecue!

“I’ll be spending my Labor Day at a barbecue with my friends and family. We’ll play some games outside and have a family movie night!” senior Briana Pulliam said.

The Lake of the Ozarks and Mark Twain Lake are great swimming options, but fun can always be found a little closer to home.

“I’ll start out my day by cooking breakfast for my family. Then I’ll probably watch Travis Scott’s Look Mom, I Can Fly documentary and go to the pool for the last time to hang out with my friends and family,” junior Will Nicholson said.

If you want to spend time in nature while it’s nice out, camping is always a great option! A day-long float trip followed by a cookout at your campsite and making s’mores by the fire never disappoints.

“On Saturday we’re going on a float trip. Then my family will go fishing….We’re gonna kill ‘em and grill ‘em,” junior Ben Morales said.

No matter what you do, Labor Day is a great day to spend quality time with your friends and family. Make sure to soak up the warmth while it’s still here!
