This Thursday, St. Dominic celebrated their juniors with a Junior Ring Ceremony. The students came together to receive rings as a symbol of their journey both in school and in faith. This night served as an important landmark in their high school experience that the students will always remember.
The evening started with a Mass held in the Performing Arts Center, with Fr. Bob Hennekes as the celebrant. The students sat with one another, to represent the family that they have become. Before everyone, was a table filled with the rings that each student chose for themselves. The rings were then blessed through prayer and holy water. One by one, each student walked up and received their ring, shaking hands with members of the St. Dominic staff. It was an amazing experience that allowed the juniors to be congratulated for their growth.
“It was such a memorable experience and I’m so thankful that St. Dominic provides me with the opportunity to experience it,” junior Meagan Davies said.
The rings they receive aren’t just a regular piece of jewelry, but something that shows who the student truly is. In his homily, Fr. Hennekes said that the true meaning is the faith and love it carries with it.
Students are able to look at their ring, and remember all of the love and laughter shared during their time at St. Dominic. It will also remind them of the importance of faith, and how lucky they are to have gone to a school with God at the heart of it.
“Junior Ring really shows how strong the community at St. Dominic is. I am grateful to have a ring with such a significance,” junior Izzy Woytus said.
The night ended with tons of photos and Crumbl Cookies. It was a beautiful ceremony, one of St. Dominic’s best traditions. The student’s Junior Ring is something that will stay within their hearts forever.
