With the passing of Thanksgiving and the season of Christmas officially starting, the countdown to Christmas break has already begun. Before that though all of Saint Dominic will have to take their midterm finals. From freshmen experiencing this three week stretch for the first time, to seniors ready to check out, here are some tips to make your finals as easy as possible.
Number one: Keep Organized.
With the ups and downs of the first semester, schoolwork is bound to get lost and disorganized. Before the full stress of study guides and final assignments arrive, be sure to organize all papers and notability folders. Also with study guides starting to roll out make sure you put them in a spot you can easily find them to complete and review.
Number Two: Turn in Missing Assignments
Forgotten assignments are a common occurrence, but turning in all assignments before study guides and the pressure of finals begin is key to being successful.
Number Three: Make Checklists
During finals week there are many tasks to get done and not a lot of time, especially with eight different classes to get tested in over a span of three days. It is a lot to keep track of. In order to help with that, create checklists, rank tasks in order of importance, and highlight what areas need the most attention.
Number Four: Ask Questions
The first semester is a long and strenuous time and certain topics and ideas are bound to get jumbled and confused. This is why asking questions is so important. It is better to get certain ideas clarified early on in studying in order to build off of them and understand the material more thoroughly.
Number Five: Take Time to Relax
Everyone always wants to score well so they can end the semester well. But stretching yourself too thin and overthinking all the little things will lead to decreased scores. Remember to get eight hours of sleep and take breaks to eat healthy meals and spend some time with family and the Lord.
Finals time is stressful and overwhelming. Hopefully using some of these tips this season could be a little less stressful and help you to keep those grades up going into Christmas break.
