On the evening of April 29, 2025, St. Dominic hosted its final concert of the year. Held in the Amy Dickherber Performing Arts Center, the event was the perfect way to close out spring.
The night opened with the Jazz ensemble, whose performance had arrangements by the likes of John Berry, Mark Taylor, and Paul Murtha. The opener, “Respect,” contained a solo by Hannah O’Brien, I “Thought of You”, featured choir member and senior, Gabby Chiaradonna, and Thomas Mullins ended the set with a solo of his own in “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.”
Following this rousing performance was the concert band. Proving to be quite the experienced instrumentalists, they put on a wonderful set which opened to “Hogan’s Hero March.” The Concert Band also performed a few pop culture classics in the form of “Pure Imagination,” and a medley of “Grease.”
At the halfway mark of the concert, the bands exited and the many choirs would take the stage. In the opening piece, the mixed chorus performed “Do-Re-Mi,” “I’d like to Teach the World to Sing”, and “Hallelujah.” Another strong aspect was the performance by the Chamber Choir, who performed “Music of the Night” from Phantom of the Opera, “Let There Be Peace on Earth,”and “St. Dominic’s Blessing.”
The biggest choir of the night, squeezed between Mixed Chorus and Chamber Choir, was the Concert Choir. Featuring “Dust in the Wind,” and “Oceans and Stars,” it was a “stellar” performance to say the least.
It’s not the end for many of these performers, however. Many will go on to perform at the solo festival held at MIZZOU. With some still with more music in store for their future, we can’t wait to see how bright our stars shine.
