With Easter break approaching quickly, it is important to celebrate such a glorious holiday. Easter is the day that Jesus received from the dead so it’s a pretty big deal.
One of the most common easter traditions is obviously going to church on Easter morning. Every single church has their doors open on Easter, to welcome everyone to celebrate Jesus’s resurrection. Many people bring in all their family members, and get together for the big Easter service.
“Every Easter my family and I like to get all dressed up and head to the Easter mass in the morning. After that we always go out to lunch all together and spend good family time together,” junior Natilie Frazier said.
Although Easter is all about Jesus, many people also go and do Easter egg hunts on this day. Usually the adults will hide eggs all around the house or yard for the kids to go find. The eggs normally either have some sort of toy, candy, or even money hidden in them.
“When I was a child my siblings, cousins, and I would go find all the eggs hidden in the yard. We would also have one golden egg hidden really well, and I usually had twenty bucks in it,” junior Houston Yonaka said.
The third most common tradition is coloring Easter eggs. This is a fun and creative way to spend time with your family, and use artistic skills. One way to color the eggs is by taking hard boiled eggs in vinegar mixed with different colored food dyes.
“Every year all my cousins and I dye Easter eggs with different colors, then we take sharpies and coloring different designs all over them. We love giving them to our Grandma and she displays them all Easter season,” junior Pearl Mishra said.
Easter is a time to gather all family members together to celebrate Jesus, do fun activities, and have good food. It’s important to remember all that Jesus has done for us and to thank him especially on Easter day!
