The National Football League season wrapped up on Sunday afternoon with the completion of Super Bowl LIX. The highly anticipated game ended with a score of 40 to 22, with the Philadelphia Eagles taking the win.
No matter the side you were on, there were amazing plays made by each team this Super Bowl. Some of the best plays made by the Eagles this year include, the fan favorite, Jalen Hurts earning MVP by throwing two touchdowns and completing another by running for a tush push. Hurts also broke the record, previously held by Terrell Davis, for yards ran during a season with a whopping 221 yards.
On the opposite side, the Chiefs made some great plays including Patrick Mahomes throwing two touchdown passes in the later quarters of the game. Although, Mahomes did sadly end his amazing streak of 297 straight passes without an interception this game. As Mahomes and the
rest of the Chiefs tried to become the third team to win three consecutive Super Bowls, they ended up falling short as their defence could not hold back the Eagles in this Super Bowl.
Controversy has been sparked this season as officials seem to be favoring the Chiefs. This opinion was fueled even more when the first penalty of the game was made to negate a play made by the Eagles due to offensive pass interference.
Besides the football game there are several more fan favourites to look for during the airing of the Super Bowl. These favorites include the halftime show, the hilarious commercials, and the appearances of popular celebrity figures in the stands during the game.
The halftime show for this time was performed by Kendrick Lamar and SZA, with the shocking performance of Not Like Us played to diss Drake. Another fan favorite was the commercials played during the game, with several commercials being popular this year including the “Century of Cravings” by Uber Eats and “What is Greatness” by He Gets Us, a Christian non profit. The third and final most sought after part of the super bowl, besides the game, is the sighting of popular figures. This year celebrities such as Taylor Swift, Donald Trump, Jay-Z, Paul Rudd, Pete Davidson, and many more stood out in the crowd.
Overall, this Super Bowl game has sparked controversy in many different ways, on both sides, including Kendrick versus Drake, the opinion that the officials favor the Chiefs, and the overall outcome of the game. Despite this controversy, it was still an enjoyable game to view with friends and family this season.
