This Thursday at St. Dominic is the annual Crusader Day!

On May 2nd, St. Dominic students and faculty participated in the 7th annual Celebrate St. Dominic Day. This day is easily a favorite for everyone involved, especially the seniors, who partake in their last full school day of the year.

Students who were asked to donate at least $10 were welcomed into the school with donuts, music, and a dress down day. During empower hour, a Kona ice truck and multiple inflatable bounce houses and obstacle courses are open to everyone. Empower hour is extended by ten minutes, and seniors get even more time to enjoy the activities.

“Celebrate St. Dominc day is one of the last days us seniors get to be all in the same place and have fun. It really brings us all together and relieves a lot of stress,” senior Elise Kehoe said.

This day is an opportunity for students to give thanks to their teachers and parents for the impact St. Dominic has made on their life.

“I love how true and genuine the teachers are at St. Dominic. It is clear that the teachers at St. Dominic care about their students, and are always willing to go out of their way to help a student in need,” junior Will Dery said.

Along with giving thanks to everyone in the school, this day is also about having fun and celebrating. Celebrate St. Dominic day is a experience that all students and faculty look forward to. May is such a stressful time of the year, with finals and the end of the school year wrapping up, and this day is a great way to take a breather and relieve stress.

“I love that we have bounce houses and snow cones. It makes the school day so much more fun and makes me grateful that I’m able to go to a school with such amazing opportunities,” sophomore Alex Difeo said.

This year was the seventh year the school has celebrated St. Dominic day and the fundraising goal was set at $100,000. At 11:30 p.m., we were a little less than half way to our goal at $48,000.

At the end of the day, St. Dominic raised a record breaking total of $125,154 exceeding our goal. This day was an amazing day for students and staff, as well as all the families that have been impacted by St. Dominic’s efforts to make the world a better place.
