The Chiefs and the Eagles will face of in Super Bowl 56

After another weekend of playoff football, the grandest stage of them all, the Super Bowl, is set. The Philadelphia Eagles will take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday February 12 for the right to call themselves the “Super Bowl LVII Champions.” While both teams had very different paths to the championship, the Super Bowl promises to be a thrilling game.

Here’s how each team got here…

NFC Championship: Philadelphia Eagles 31 – 7 San Francisco 49ers

I predicted that anything other than an Eagles blowout would be an upset, and I was accurate in that prediction. The 49ers really stood no chance from the beginning of this game, and the Eagles made sure to cement their victory by overpowering the 49ers on all sides of the ball. The Eagles are headed back to the SuperBowl for the first time since the 2017-2018 season, where they were victorious over the New England Patriots. Touchdowns from Miles Sanders, Jalen Hurts, and Boston Scott overpowered the one touchdown from the 49ers, which was scored by Christian McCaffrey. Perhaps the key to the Eagles success has been their stellar defense, which has done a good job all season of holding good offensive teams to minimal points. They will look to do that again as they head into the biggest game of the season against one of the best quarterbacks in the league.

AFC Championship: Cincinnati Bengals 20 – 23 Kansas City Chiefs

I have to admit that I did not see a Chiefs win as a possibility in this game. I don’t know how they were able to pull it off, but Mahomes’ magic worked again. Outrage on social media has been directed towards the referees as a lot of people believe that the Chiefs were gifted calls all game. Whether or not you agree with that, this game still felt like it was in the hands of Joe Burrow and the rest of the Bengals. Burrow didn’t have his greatest game as he threw two interceptions while Mahomes threw none. Obviously the biggest killer for the Bengals was the late game penalty from Joseph Ossai that put the Chiefs in field goal range with mere seconds to go. That field goal was scored by Harrison Butker who put it directly through the uprights to send the Chiefs through to face off against the Eagles.

After all the excitement of this NFL season, we are down to one final game which will determine the Super Bowl champions. Kansas City and Philadelphia are primed to deliver a great game even though they had very different routes to get to this game. The Eagles have been able to win fairly easily in their playoff games while the Chiefs have had to sweat these games out. However, after all is said and done, whoever wins this game will have to play the game of their life.

Super Bowl: Kansas City Chiefs vs Philadelphia Eagles, Sunday February 12 at 5:30 PM on FOX

This game will consist of Patrick Mahomes and the rest of the Chiefs offense trying to break down the stellar Eagles defense. On the other side of the ball, the Chiefs defense will have their hands full trying to stop Jalen Hurts and company. Overall, this game appears to be favoring the Eagles, which is what I would do as well. Although the Chiefs have surprised me so far, for now I don’t think they have the ability to defeat the Eagles with how they are playing right now. As I said in the previous article, you can’t count the Chiefs out, and that is important to remember, however, I just can’t envision them winning this game. I do predict that the Philadelphia Eagles will be crowned Super Bowl champions come February 12. This game will also have two fun history making facts to go with it. This game will be the first time ever that there will be two African American quarterbacks starting for their respective teams, a groundbreaking moment for them. In addition to that, this game will also be the first time that a mother will have both of her sons playing in the Super Bowl. Donna Kelce will have to cheer for both teams as her sons, Travis and Jason Kelce will be on opposing teams in the championship.

This game already seems so exciting even though it is a week and a half away. The anticipation is building strongly in fans of both of those cities, and the fan bases will be out in full force ready to cheer their team to victory. Whether you are a fan of the Chiefs or the Eagles, be sure to watch the game of the year with family and friends. Or, if you are just here to watch the Rihanna halftime show then there is something for you too. Whatever it is, February 12th will be an amazing night for sports fans everywhere.
