Taylor Swift recently released her second re-recorded album, Red (Taylor’s Version)

It has been less than two weeks since Taylor Swift dropped her latest re-recorded album, Red (Taylor’s Version), and it has already proven to be a huge success.

Red (Taylor’s Version) shattered the record for most Spotify streams in a single day with over 90.8 million listens when it dropped on Friday, November 12. What is even more impressive is Swift also held the previous record with her 2020 album, Folklore.

According to the Billboard Charts, Swift has sold over 72,000 copies of Red (Taylor’s Version), making her the most successful female artist this year in sales.

Although Taylor Swift has been writing and producing music since 2006, it was not until recently that she finally owned the rights to her work. In 2020, Swift was signed with Republic Records so she could have ownership of her music. However, due to the terms with her previous record deal, Big Machine Records still retains the rights to her first six albums.

In response to the loss of her music, Swift decided to re-record her old albums and dub them “Taylor’s Version.” This allows her to reclaim the rights while also making music available for fans to enjoy. Swift released her first re-recorded album, Fearless (Taylor’s Version), in April, and after much anticipation, her second re-recorded album dropped on Friday, November 12.

Red (Taylor’s Version) included her original track list with popular songs like “22” and “I Knew You Were Trouble.” Swift also reunited with artists Ed Sheeran and Gary Lightbody to recreate their former collaborations. In addition to her classic hits, Swift’s re-recorded album featured new songs “From The Vault” such as “Nothing New” with Phoebe Bridgers and “I Bet You Think About Me.”

To further promote her newly released music, Swift appeared on The Late Night Show with Jimmy Fallon on November 12. The next day, she appeared on Saturday Night Live to perform her most heart-wrenching song, “All Too Well (10 Minute Version).”

“All Too Well” has been a fan favorite since Red was originally released in 2012. It was initially cut down to five minutes to fit on the track, but with the re-recorded album, Swift finally released the 10-minute version of the song. In addition to the extended song, Swift made her directing debut with a short film. The film, entitled All Too Well: The Short Film, stars Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien and was an instant hit, gathering over 32 million views in the first three days of it’s release.

After 16 years, Taylor Swift continues to dominate the music industry. Only time will tell what she has in store for us listeners. Until then, be sure to stream Red (Taylor’s Version) here: https://open.spotify.com/album/6kZ42qRrzov54LcAk4onW9?si=JfQ47OtoT0eFYRyT41eMtA
