Brussel sprouts; you either love them or hate them. But do you know the good things these vegetables do for you?

Brussel sprouts are high in nutrients, rich in antioxidants and Vitamin K, they are also high in fibers! I know that just because they are good for you, doesn’t make them taste any better, so here are some fun recipes to make them taste better!

“When I was a kid, my mom cooked brussels sprout for us. At first they were hard to eat, but eventually they became one of my favorite vegetables,” senior Adri Weber said.

You can bake them into a breakfast casserole, toss them into a roasted vegetable pasta or Mac and cheese, add them to a salad, or just roast them in the oven with vegetable oil and seasoning for a great side dish! There are a ton of recipes out there online and in cook books.

“When my family makes brussels sprouts, we put them in a sauté pan with a lot of olive oil and Italian seasoning. A lot of people don’t like them, but I do because they are a healthy side,” junior Joey Berra said.

Packed with immunity-boosting vitamin C and cancer fighting glucosinolates, brussels sprouts are among the most powerful cold-weather superfoods! Wow!

Though this superfood is amazing for you, only aim to get it once or twice a week at most or else you’ll have an upset stomach. There are only 28 calories in half a cup.

Make sure when consuming brussels sprouts that you cook them all the way through because if not, your stomach will make you regret it!
