A Grand Time at the Grammys

The 61 Annual Grammy Awards Show took place this past Sunday, February 10. Highly anticipated results were revealed and a record was set for Song of the Year.

Numerous riveting things happened at this year’s Grammys, including record-setting artists, live performances and winners in every categories. Each category was unique and had quite a few nominations.

For overall Best Album of the Year along with Best Country Album, country artist Kacey Musgraves took home the award with her album Golden Hour. Obviously, there were also winners in smaller categories of Album of the Year such as best R&B album. H.E.R took home that prize for her album H.E.R.

Most likely the biggest focus of this year’s Grammy Awards Show was the winner of Song of the Year. Artist Childish Gambino and his song “This is America” were crowned best song and record of the year. This is a record-breaking award, becoming the first rap song to win the prestigious awards. This year, the “This is America” music video broke the internet, gaining 50 million views in a mere few days. The video portrayed violence and racism in America and immediately went viral.  Props to Childish Gambino and every other winner at the Grammys this past Sunday!

Live performances this year were also a huge hit among viewers. About an hour into the show, the awards show received a big dose of country music with a nearly ten minute long tribute to Dolly Parton, assisted by Kacey Musgraves, Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry. Winner of Best R&B Album H.E.R. performed her hit song “Best Part” and “Hard Place.” The renowned Travis Scott gave the crowd and viewers a shot of adrenaline with his performance of “Stop Trying to be God” and “No Bystanders.” Lady Gaga and Alicia Keys, the queens theirselves, also performed their hit songs.

These talent-filled artists astounded the crowds with their famous hit songs and renditions of other famous songs. This year’s Grammys was one to remember, and next year’s is sure to be just as exciting!
