Saints’ Season Ends From Blown Call

Sunday, January 1 was the loss to end the Saints season, with the Rams barely pushing ahead to win 26-23 in overtime. A missed call by referee Sean Payton is said to have stopped the Saints from taking the game.

Nickell Robey-Coleman, the cornerback for the Los Angeles Rams, did everything he could to stop Tommylee Lewis, the wide receiver for the Saints, from catching the possible game-winning throw. The pass interference was one to remember; Robey-Coleman taking Lewis down before the ball could be caught. Although Payton admitted after the game that he had missed the call, some wonder if the obvious call was blown.

Louisiana attorney Frank D’Amico Jr. filed a lawsuit against the NFL and commissioner Roger Goodell in hopes of getting a rematch for the Saints and to hopefully get them to the Super Bowl. The missed call that ended the Saints season and took their possible Super Bowl championship made all Saints fans and players feel angry and betrayed.

Eye doctors from two different states say they have a message for the referees—they need to get their eyes checked! Louisiana Family Eyecare in Covington, Louisiana took the Saints’ loss to heart. The office said they are offering free eye exams to league officials before next season to make sure that all teams get fair calls.

The Saints are disappointed by the miss call and loss but are hopeful for next season. They are preparing to go farther no matter the circumstances and are determined to get to the Super Bowl.
