As Week 5 concluded, the Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs both stayed perfect on the year, and Drew Brees became the all time NFL leader in passing yards.

Head coach Sean McVay led Los Angeles into Seattle, one of the NFL’s toughest places to play, and the Rams emerged with a 33-31 victory, improving their record to 5-0. The high-flying Rams offense was highlighted by Todd Gurley’s three rushing touchdowns, but the defense didn’t do them any favors. LA trailed by one with six minutes left in the fourth quarter, before newly signed kicker Cairos Santos drilled a 39 yard field goal to push them in front for good. LA will continue their road trip as they visit the reeling Broncos (2-3).

The NFL’s other undefeated team, the Kansas City Chiefs, cruised to a 30-14 victory over the Jags. The game was highlighted by defense and special teams. The Chiefs defense tallied one fumble and four interceptions, including a pick six by defensive end Chris Jones. Kicker Harrison Butker was perfect on the day, going 3-3 from 22, 38 and 42 yards. Kansas City will look to continue their winning ways as they travel to Foxborough to face the New England Patriots (3-2).

In a 43-19 steamrolling of the Washington Redskins by the New Orleans Saints, future Hall of Famer Drew Brees broke the all time NFL record for career passing yards. In the second quarter, Brees launched a 62 yard pass to rookie Tre’Quan Smith to pass Peyton Manning as the yardage king. Brees finished the game with 343 yards passing and three touchdowns. Next week, at Baltimore (3-2) , Brees will look for his 500th career touchdown pass.

After another classic week in the NFL, we were all shown why the game is so great and given a front row seat to history.
