Boys soccer went 2-1 to finish off their tough week, bringing their record to 4-2-1 for the year. After splitting the first two games of the week between Christian and St. Mary’s, the Crusaders defeated Father Tolton in thrilling fashion to wrap up the week on a good note.

To open the week St. Dominic hosted Christian. Senior Carson Corbett got things started early for St. Dominic with a goal ten minutes into the game. From there, it was all Crusaders with goals from juniors Clay North, Nick Alberts and Malik Maroney and senior Jacob Mock. As the cherry on top of the all around team effort, senior Tony Petruso earned his first varsity hat trick, propelling St. Dominic to an 8-0 win.

“I really just felt good. I was able to get good reads and put the ball in the net. Great job by everyone today, that’s for sure,” said Petruso.

On Wednesday, St. Dominic hosted St. Mary’s and was upset 4-1 in PKs. The game was tied at 0-0 all game, but the Crusaders could not finish off the Dragons.

The boys rebounded with a 3-2 overtime win over Father Tolton. Senior Jeremy Sutterer tallied two goals including the OT winner, and senior Alex Weddle added another along with an assist to help secure the victory. Senior Tony Petruso and junior Clay North both had assists that night as well.

“It was good bounceback win, helped us get back on track for the rest of the season. Good job by the guys to stick in there and get the OT win,” said head coach Greg Koeller.

The Crusaders look to continue their winning ways September 24 when they host Fort Zumwalt West.
