Summer Favorites

Summer+Favorites

The summer of 2018 was full of new movies and summer concerts that quickly became our students’ new favorites. There was a variety of new theatrical releases, including Incredibles 2, Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Ant-Man and the Wasp and even Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Concerts ranged from Post Malone to Thomas Rhett. However, the summer concerts aren’t stopping there. You can still catch Luke Bryan and Sam Hunt or Ed Sheeran in concert for an awesome way to end summer.

This summer was full of fantastic movies for all to enjoy. Some of the top movies of  this year were Incredibles 2, Ant-Man and the Wasp and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Each movie made a significant amount of money with Incredibles 2 coming out on top. Not only did Incredibles 2 make 180 million in its opening weekend, but it also brought enjoyment to fans who have waited 14 years for a sequel.

“Brad Bird returns to this beloved franchise with a vengeance, delivering an action packed, humor filled, and heartfelt installment that seems to be on par with the first film that is so near and dear to many hearts. Oh, and fourteen years really helped the animation. It’s BEAUTIFUL,” said sophomore Charlie Wehde.

However, movies weren’t the only thing making an impression on St. Dominic’s students this summer. This year’s concerts consisted of everyone from Post Malone to Rascal Flatts and Thomas Rhett. Many Dominic students were in attendance at each of these concerts, but the best is yet to come. Two of the biggest concerts of the summer are happening within the next three weeks.

First, Luke Bryan is scheduled to appear at Busch Stadium along with Sam Hunt on August 25. The two have been together on tour since May 31, for the “What Makes You Country XL Tour.” The tour will visit a total of 13 stadiums throughout the US and Canada. The last and possibly most anticipated concert of the year is Ed Sheeran. He is coming to Busch Stadium on September 6 as part of his Divide tour. This tour started on March 16, 2017 in Italy and is scheduled to end on March 27, 2019 in Cape Town, South Africa.

Even with the start of school, summer doesn’t have to end. There are still two huge concerts to go see as a way to finish it all off. However, even if you don’t make it to those concerts, with all of the exciting things that happened this summer it’s likely that all St. Dominic students had a great time.
