An important value at St. Dominic is giving back to our grandparents. At least once a month, St. Dominic hosts a mass and rosary for the grandparents of their students. This wonderful opportunity brings the generations together to celebrate Christ and spend time with grandchildren in the school environment.
This Wednesday was the first grandparent mass and rosary of the year. The grandparents arrived at the school and found their way to the PAC, where they participated in a mass and rosary. Once the students were dismissed for breakfast bar, they went to the Sister Mary Bender Lobby to meet up with their grandparents. Many students and grandparents used this time to catch up with one another, while enjoying a delicious donut.
“I love seeing them, it just calms me down on a busy school day. I am so grateful to have this opportunity, and I cherish the time I get to spend with them,” junior Izzy Woytus said.
Taking place on October 5th, the annual St. Dominic Grandparents Day celebration will start off with a 9:00am mass. Following the mass, the grandparents will be treated to a delicious brunch. Lastly, students will be able to give a tour of the school to their grandparents.
“I am so excited to go because I get to spend time with my grandparents. I am mostly looking forward to showing them around St. Dominic,” junior Ava Howe said.
This celebration is taking place on Sunday, so all grandparents who work will be able to attend this wonderful treat. St. Dominic does this for the grandparents to thank them for praying for our school and students. It is a way for St. Dominic to show their gratitude for the grandparents’ support.
“We call them our ‘Prayer Warriors’,” president Mr. Welbly said.
Getting grandparents involved in St. Dominic helps students grow closer relationships with them through prayer. This amazing opportunity happens every month, so take advantage of it.
