In St. Dominic, there are some new faces around the school. These people are the new teachers at St. Dominic. The teachers are Mrs. Willis, Mr. Oden, Mr. Hogan, Mr. Fischer, Mrs. Pirrung, Mr. Jones, Mr. Fitzgerald, Mr. Thorpe and school nurse Mrs. Vandeven.
Just like freshman or transfers, new teachers have to get used to the schedule of the school. They have to adapt to things like family time and empower hour. The new teachers deal with new students to teach and new coworkers.
“The schedule is a lot different from what I’ve worked on in my career. Not so much the rotating hours, but the stuff like family time and empower hour. Then learning blackbaud has been a challenge because I’ve never worked on blackbaud before,” new math teacher Brad Fischer said.
Some of the new teachers are alumni of St. Dominic. They are excited to be back at their old school. They also are excited to teach the subjects they love. The teachers like to help students improve in their academics.
“I came to St. Dominic because my brother changed jobs and his theology position was open. I love theology, so I wanted to teach it. Then I also went to St. Dominic,” new theology teacher Joe Hogan said.
So far through this school year the teachers have had an enjoyable time, are making new memories, and have new favorite things at St. Dominic. Additionally, they are creating new connections and meeting new people.
”The food is definitely way better than the public schools. I really like the cinnamon rolls,” new math teacher Brad Fischer said.
St. Dominic is very thankful to welcome these new teachers at the school. Hopefully the St. Dominic family will grow with more new teachers in the future. The staff of the school is looking bright with these new additions.
