Dear St. Dominic,

Starting out in Journalism sophomore year, I kind of knew what I was getting myself into. I love to write creative pieces, and my older sister had taken the class years prior, so I knew who Mr. Duncan was. However, I was not prepared for the sheer terror I would feel when I didn’t send my first article to all of the editors—I didn’t even know there were more than one. I can blatantly remember Duncan coming up to me while I watched my Netflix show and asking, “Is your article edited?”

I was like, of course it’s edited! And then he said, “By all of the editors?” and my heart dropped. My response, “… there’s more than one editor?”

I now understand the pain. Not having articles in on time, not having them edited, not having them posted—I understand it all. Becoming a main editor was one of the best and worst things ever. I have a lot more power than I did sophomore year, that’s for sure, but with that power comes people’s inability to turn in articles on time or put them in the correct format.

This Journalism class, though it has brought many stressful nights of editing, has been my favorite class ever since I joined. I’ve never had a better group of people where each year is just as fantastic as the last. Mr. Duncan has not only been a great teacher, but a great supporter when any one of us needs it. I can’t count the amount of times he’s brought me into the hall purely to ask me what’s wrong, and ask how he can help.

So, I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you to all my former classmates, to Mr. Duncan and to all my prior editors; I am so sorry for all my late articles in the past. I will never judge you again.
