The annual Crusader Gala, an event celebrated for its glamour, formality, and exclusive items, took place last Saturday night in the O’Fallon Family Center. It was a night that brought together the St. Dominic community for an evening of sophistication, generosity, and a surprising blend of luxury items, art, and even an adorable puppy up for auction.
A highlight of the evening was honoring the Witte and Mueller families for their contributions. The Fund A Need, supporting the new Trades Center, raised an impressive $700,000. To cap it off, the dinner was absolutely incredible, adding to the night’s success.
“So many people worked so hard to put together this event, its success is remarkable,” Director of Advancements Stacy Ballard said.
As the evening continued, the auction took a turn into the unexpected offering of a fluffy, playful puppy, named “Domino,” was brought up on stage by its handler. The small Bernedoodle had guests laughing and smiling which quickly became the talk of the gala.
Among the standout auction items were experiences sure to create lasting memories. Guests could win an exclusive dinner with Fr. Patrick and Fr. Fischer of St. Joe Cottleville, a vacation home in Destin, Florida, or a Fajita and Margarita Party for 50, generously provided by El Tio Pepe. These unique offerings combined luxury, community, and unforgettable fun, capturing the Crusader Gala perfectly.
The Crusader Gala was an overwhelming success, raising a total of $1.35 million. The Fund A Need segment alone contributed $700,000, while the rest of the evening’s auctions and donations brought in approximately $650,000. These generous contributions will play a vital role in expanding and improving the campus, allowing for the addition of several major renovation projects. Most are already planned for this summer, and the funds raised will ensure they move forward, further strengthening the educational experience for everyone.
“These funds allow us to continue to add additional programs, classes, and renovations to our campus. We have several big renovations scheduled for this summer that these funds will help with,” President Jim Welby said.
As the evening concluded, the success of the Crusader Gala was evident. The event truly highlighted the spirit of community and giving that defines the St. Dominic community.
