A Letter to My High School Besties
I’ve been blessed to call St. Dominic my home for the last four years, yet I realize it is coming to a close for all of the senior class. Here’s a letter to those I love the most: my best friends. You have made my high school career so memorable and each day special. And for this, I thank you.
Thank you for being there to hold my hand through times of heartache and always being there to make me laugh when I needed it most. The memories we’ve made together are irreplaceable and unforgettable. I will never forget our car jam sessions, our Starbucks study dates, our weekend adventures and of course, the Friday night home games. No matter where our futures take us, our times together will always be something I treasure and take with me throughout the rest of my life.
Thank you for allowing me to be myself and loving every part of me each step of the way. Since my timid freshman year, which seems like a lifetime ago, I have grown into a confident young woman who I never even dreamed I would be. I have you to thank for a lot of it. You have helped shape me into the person I am today and truly bring out the best side of me. Your love, wit, perseverance and creativity have inspired me day after day and I hope to carry all of this with me.
And lastly, thank you for being my right-hands, my go-tos. You truly are my sunshines on cloudy days. I cannot imagine my life without you, and I hope I never have to. The halls of St. Dominic would never have been the same without your bright, smiley faces and your lovingly sarcastic comments. Though waking up early each morning becomes monotonous and exhausting, you made it worth it. You are my soulmates and my appreciation for you is forever.
Though we will soon be taking our last steps through the doors of St. Dominic and be throwing our caps at graduation, this is not a goodbye. It’s a see ya later. So, thank you for being my best friends; not only that but the people I couldn’t live without. Remember that my phone is always ready for your call, my DMs are always ready to be slid into and my heart is always ready to embrace you. I love you forever and a day.
