The Force Awakens a New Generation of Fans

In a galaxy far, far away…the force awakens. Walt Disney has created a third trilogy to continue the legacy of the Star Wars phenomenon. The first movie in this trilogy, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, comes to theaters December 18. Tickets have been on sale since early fall in anticipation of the huge crowds who await to see how the story will continue.

The new trilogy takes place thirty years after the Battle of Endor. Star Wars fans can look forward to seeing their favorite characters back in action. The movie will feature brother and sister Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia, Han Solo accompanied by his co-pilot Chewbacca and the dynamic duo of CP3O and R2D2. New characters will be introduced as well, including Rey, a desolate scavenger from planet Jakku; Finn, the anticipated hero; and Kylo Ren, the new villain.

“I want to see the new Jedi and new Sith. They’re obviously the coolest part,” said literature teacher Mr. Hancock.

Disney has created a new generation brought up by First Order propaganda, teaching them to hate the Rebels that we have come to love. This, along with the 30-year gap between the original trilogy and the new trilogy, creates a society unlike one we’ve ever seen. The anticipation continues to build as fans are forced to create their own theories due to the secrecy of this film.

“I have a theory that the new character Rey will be the daughter of Princess Leia and Han Solo. It makes sense that they would send her away to a completely different planet for her safety. I’m interested to see how they will tie the new characters into the ones we already know,” said junior Jordyn Hardy.

On December 18, we will find out how Disney will tie this new trilogy into the previous six episodes.  Pull out your lightsabers and grab some popcorn for the most anticipated movie of the year, Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
